Food & Organics Recycling

Our food and organics recycling service offers a full Zero Waste option for materials that may have otherwise gone to landfill. By processing food and organic materials through an anaerobic digestion plant, the waste is recycled to produce renewable energy and organic fertiliser, providing an environmentally friendly disposal route for these types of materials.

There are many materials that are suitable for organic recycling and we can provide systems for storage, collection and treatment of food and organic waste.

Suitable materials include:

  • Processing residues
  • Unsold packaged food
  • Uneaten scraps
  • Fats, oils and greases
  • Peelings, cuttings and trimmings
  • Reject batches of food, ingredients or mixes
  • Out of date or spoiled materials or ingredients

Working with Customers

If your company produces food and organic waste, then changing to a more environmentally friendly service could not be simpler. We will carry out a full audit to determine the right type of container for your requirements. A collection schedule will be agreed and then the food waste will be diverted from landfill.

Staff training can be provided prior to the start of service and then at regular intervals.

Food recycling on its own, and without contamination from garden waste, offers the maximum energy return. So, whilst a mixed green and food collection service might seem a quick solution to diverting material from landfill, compromising the food element with twigs etc might not stack up over the long term. When other factors such as vehicle costs, treatment costs, and the inevitable lack of suitable material in the winter months are taken into account, dedicated food-only collections can offer the best value solution.

Our commitment is to ensure that the best value option is found when meeting the aims of the Zero Waste plan. This could mean working in partnership to handle material at an anaerobic digestion plant or providing the support infrastructure to collect, as well as treat, food and organic recycling.
